The overall mission of Komponent is to establish and maintain a platform where electronic activity from different areas can be presented in one context across institutional and professional boundaries, in an informal and progressive environment.

Komponent wants to enable a creative meeting between technological, artistic and theoretical activities, where the connections between the areas can be investigated and the creative possibilities can be tested. The aim is to challenge and develop electronic activity and the thoughts and prejudices that surrounds it.

In practice Komponent is a mixture of independent events and short term projects, ranging from exhibitions, live concerts, performances, talks, debates and web-events. Some of the activities are initiated and organised by Komponent itself, others are organised externally or in collaboration with Komponent.

Komponent was initiated by the art and culture organisation LAB, and is based in LAB's space in Copenhagen West. The first event was held in January 2000. While run by an independent projectgroup, Komponent i closely connected with LAB on all levels. The structure is based on a lose network of individuals, who relates to the electronic activity from very different angels, and whose personal interests vary widly. This constitutes a very dynamic basis for Komponent.

Definitions:
Komponent defines ELECTRONIC ACTIVITY as activities which on various levels involve electronic technology.

KOMPOENT defines ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY as technology which is made possible by electric current.

Komponent welcomes propositions from both individuals and organisations who would like to make a singel or more continous collaboration with Komponent.
